However, if you're doing a driveway or working in an area where water run – off is an issue, you may need to contact your local authority. Some newer residential communities have covenants covering the use of driveway materials. Grab a pencil, paper and tape measure. Measure the length and the width of the are to be paved. Then multiply one by the other to determine the total area in square metres. Make an appropriate allowance for irregular shaped or curved edges. 2. Pavers come in a number of sizes. Here’s a guide to how many of each type you’ll need to lay one square metre: Paver Size Number per square metre 200 x 100 = 50 200 x 200 = 25 230 x 115 = 38 300 x 300 = 11.1 400 x 400 = 6.25 600 x 600 = 2.77 3. Multiply the number required per sq m by the area to be covered to determine total number of pavers required 4. Add 2% to this figure to allow for mishaps and cut pavers. you will need • Roadbase • Sand • Crusher Dust • Joint Fill Sand • Concrete Blend - remember to add 25% to volume to allow for slump. • Cement 20kg • F62 reinforcing mesh is available in 6mtr x 2.4mtr and 3mtr x 2.4mtr sizes if a concrete base is required ... and you will need to hire • Wacker Packer • Bricksaw • Screed Pebbling 1. Measure the area as per 3.1 2. Prepare the base to allow for drainage - fall away from the house 3. Compact base that is original or build up using crusher dust or roadbase. If installing steppers, bed them on crusher dust or mortar mix. 4. It is also wise to lay a weed mat down over the top of base material for pebbles to lay on. This not only limits weed growth but prevents base material mixing with pebbles over time 5. Remember to subtract the area of the pavers from the total area to get the actual area to be pebbled. Multiply by the thickness of the paver or stepper (usually 40mm/50mm) eg; area 10m x 2m = 20m2 - 20 pavers @ 6.25/m2 = 3.2m2 This leaves 16.8m2 to be pebbled. 16.8m2 x .05 (50mm depth) = .84m3 of pebbles required.
